Brecon Priory Groves with Beech Trees

Community Orchard

On 19 February, thanks to funding received from the Local Places for Nature Fund via the Local Nature Partnership members of FoBGAP, along with Priory school pupils and staff were able to plant a community orchard at the top of the playing field by Priory School.

There are 10 trees in all comprising varieties of apple, cherry, pear and plum which the community can enjoy when they come into blossom in the spring, provide shade from the sun in the summer and pick the fruit to eat in the autumn.

Thanks to Steve Butcher of Powys Council for sourcing the trees and providing planting guidance.
